Festival of Games 2012

On the road again! From April 19 to 20 we went to the Festival of Games in Utrecht, Netherlands. The Festival of Games is a game business event. It consists of a conference, showcase, career fair and the match-making event Pitch & Match. This year, we had our HR booth at the career fair, met with potential new colleagues, talked to journalists and business partners and our CMO Volker Dressel held his presentation about cross-platform gaming.

Bikes, so many bikes…My first impression of Utrecht was a bright pink “fiets” (dutch for bicycle) almost hitting our group on our way to the hotel. I knew that there are many bikes in the Netherlands, but really, it was pure pandemonium. They even had two-level parking lots just for fiets…The event center itself was pretty crowded, too: over 2.000 visitors checked out the different speaker slots, career opportunities and awesome new technology.

As you know, we are really active in recruiting and always searching for talented people from all over the world. That is why we had a booth in the career fair again, where potential applicants could get information about the different career opportunities in our company. Working in the Public Relations department, I met different journalists and bloggers at the FoG. Besides me, other colleagues from various InnoGames-departments went to this year´s event: Wiebke from HR Marketing, Daniel, a Backend Developer, Tobias, who is responsible for Media Cooperations and our CMO Volker.

In his presentation, Volker showed how the gaming sphere has changed over the last years and why cross-platform gaming is so important for InnoGames: Especially from our players, we get feedback that they want to access their favorite games, everywhere, all throughout the day. That is why every game currently in our development will be cross-platform. You can definitely look forward to that!

Goodbye Utrecht, you beautiful but dangerous city (well, at least for pedestrians).
