System Administrator (m/f)
Your Tasks
- Operational support of a game project
- Connecting the game to the supporting infrastructure
- Improving and extending the server setup
- Setting up game worlds in virtualized, heterogeneous environments
- Debugging of the game in case of errors
- Close cooperation with Game Development
- The willingness for stand-by on weekends (every fourth week)
Requirements
- A degree in computer science, or an completed apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for System Integration
- The willingness to work with a mixed Linux/Windows environment
- Very good knowledge of the operating system internals of either Windows or Linux
- Showing an interest in learning more about the other system
- Very good knowledge of internet services
- Good knowledge of network protocols
- Knowledge of debugging methods
- Able to use a script language, ideally Python or Powershell
- Knowledge of the configuration of web servers (apache, nginx) and database servers (mysql, postgres)
- First practical experience in administrating Windows servers
- Very good fluency in English
Desirable:
- Experience in Linux server administration
- Experience in x86 virtualization techniques: HyperV/KVM/Xen
- Affinity to online games
- Experience in handling Nagios
- Experience in using configuration management systems (puppet, cfengine)
- Knowledge of current server hardware (x86), and of the x86 and x86_64 architecture
