System Administrator (m/f)

InnoGames, based in Hamburg, is one of the leading developers and publishers of online games with more than 100 million registered players around the world. In order to further expand our success and to realize new projects, we are constantly looking for young talents, experienced professionals, and creative thinkers.

Your Tasks


  • Operational support of a game project
  • Connecting the game to the supporting infrastructure
  • Improving and extending the server setup
  • Setting up game worlds in virtualized, heterogeneous environments
  • Debugging of the game in case of errors
  • Close cooperation with Game Development
  • The willingness for stand-by on weekends (every fourth week)

Requirements


  • A degree in computer science, or an completed apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for System Integration
  • The willingness to work with a mixed Linux/Windows environment
  • Very good knowledge of the operating system internals of either Windows or Linux
  • Showing an interest in learning more about the other system
  • Very good knowledge of internet services
  • Good knowledge of network protocols
  • Knowledge of debugging methods
  • Able to use a script language, ideally Python or Powershell
  • Knowledge of the configuration of web servers (apache, nginx) and database servers (mysql, postgres)
  • First practical experience in administrating Windows servers
  • Very good fluency in English

Desirable:

  • Experience in Linux server administration
  • Experience in x86 virtualization techniques: HyperV/KVM/Xen
  • Affinity to online games
  • Experience in handling Nagios
  • Experience in using configuration management systems (puppet, cfengine)
  • Knowledge of current server hardware (x86), and of the x86 and x86_64 architecture
